The moleskine notebook of the web
"I have reservations about the moleskine notebooks. Personally, fancy brands make me nervous. Ask anyone who knows me. My favorite supermarket is Lidl (especially good for cleaning products and the odd hardware special, and the chocolate is excellent too) and my fave airline is Ryanair. (I'd fly on 'em more, but they are quite expensive to go Dublin-London on, when you take all the costs into account).
I like the product, I like the story and I like the idea, but at the core, 14 euros for a notebook with an oilcloth cover is a bit of a rip-off. For me the value of brands is quality, consistency and a connection with the manufacture and design of the product, not the snob value. I'd buy a cheaper notebook in a minute if it had the same handy features. Not that I begrudge Modo e Modo their money; if they can find people who are prepared to pay, good for them."

i gotta agree with this guy. i love 'em, but thats because they are the best that i've tried. first one was given to me, and before i knew anything about it i was already hooked. after that the story and snob value seemed mostly like marketing to me. if someone gave me another book and i liked it this much, i might switch...
but i might still frequent these sites for the sake of finding people who enjoy a quality book, also.

It's the difference between cost and value. I think that Moleskine are better than other notebook. I agree that they are very expensive, but they are also very good. I don't buy a famous cleaning product if there is another one cheaper that works equally well. But Moleskine are better.

Hmm. You could buy one of these instead of your third latte of the week. Not that expensive, imho. It's all about what you really want to spend your money on.

You pay more for your latte's then I do, I guess. I agree that I find the quality to be worth the money; I have bought more since.
