About three years ago I purchased a Timbuk2 messenger bag in what was their medium size (3 sizes were available at the time). I opted for the ballistic nylon over the lighter materials. It's lasted well for carrying just about everything, from a weekend's trip worth of clothes, to laptops, to a half dozen hardcover textbooks, to my mountain biking gear. The thing about it is that it really was originally designed for bike messengers, and you can tell. The quality and durability are awesome, and the straps actually do keep it from slipping around, especially if you're trying to wear it while riding a bike. Don't know what else I can say, it is a great bag!
