" The Treehouse + The Cave has a sibling in the physical world: my Moleskine
notebook. An unexpected gift from Heather, I got it right about the time that
this blog began. Ever since, we are inseparable. I carry it (in a pocket in my
bag that I swear was designed for it) everywhere I go, often whipping it out
mid-commute to write down a post in its most fetal stage. Nearly all my
writings, inventions and drawings begin on its pages.

The Moleskine
design is a classic, featuring (among many other wonderful details) lined or
gridded pages, an expandable pocket in the back (for collection of random
artifacts), and an elastic embedded into its back cover that acts as a closure
and bookmark, it’s been appreciated as such for nearly two centuries. Notebooks
identical to mine have nurtured the thoughts of many European artists and
intellectuals over the years, from Breton to Hemingway, and continue to find a
home in studios globally. They’re beautiful, they’re affordable, and I promise
you, the quality of the craftsmanship only helps to stimulate thoughts of equal
