"Just as I was watching the post for my Moleskine, with eager anticipation,
this arrived in my e-mail in box…….

Thank you for shopping at M……..

Unfortunately the large plain Moleskine notebook

is temporarily out of stock.

We expect a delivery in the middle of February and

will send your notebook as soon as our delivery arrives

unless we hear alternatively from you.

We send our sincere apologies for the delay.

I can handle this …sniff….sniff"

Update:  Sujatin comments:

"Two more on order – see above – so I’ll have a comforting number
waiting to be used
. So tonight – Bruce Chatwin’s suggested numbering of
the pages. A new red pen specially bought for this. The anticipation of
the ‘hit’."

So, what’s your "comforting number?"

  1. Encouraged by other addicts,I phoned round this morning and found a shop in the city with my favourites – large size, plain paper – in stock. So I set off early to an appointment and now have two in my bag. The ladies at the checkout seemed somewhat bemused by my glee.

  2. I buy a dozen of the small notebooks at a time, and re-order when there are two left. I don’t use them all that quickly (a dozen will do for at least 18 months), but re-ordering at two gives some slack time when the notebooks are backordered. The size of the order is determined by the quantity price breaks offered by the vendor. If Modo & Modo should stop producing the notebooks, this plan would also give me a little time to find a new brand.
