"Maybe that’s why we have laptops, moleskines, and cellular phones.
And maybe all this technology at our fingertips is just some cosmic
retro effort to return us homo sapiens to our nomadic roots, to wander
the plains of coffee shops, moving southernly in search of
wifi-connected Starbucks as the winter cold comes down from the north,
much like our distant ancestors followed the migrating buffets of herds
as the seasons changes.
Or is it just possible that I was
really born to a gypsy family who wrapped me in a gypsy shawl and
abandoned me on a doorstep many years ago, and perhaps these nomadic
ways of mine are just hints of my true self. Whatever the reason, when
I finally get around to printing my cards promoting my freelance
writing, I have a mind to add a “Have Pen Will Travel” or “Don’t Phone
Home” tagline somewhere near the bottom, assuming Paladin and E.T.
won’t mind. It just makes sense…"
