High-profile travelers don’t leave home without …

Pk1When leaving home for a long trip, what one thing must you take with
you? USA TODAY’s Kitty Bean Yancey put that question to a half-dozen
high-profile travelers. The personal essentials they always tote:

"A 3-by-5 Moleskine notebook/diary, the same
brand that Hemingway and Picasso used. I always get the black one. On
trips, I’m constantly taking notes, sketching. If I meet somebody, I
write down their name and address or I slip in business cards and
magazine clippings. It has an elastic band that goes around it to hold
it together. It’s a record of my life, and you can’t replicate that
with electronics."

Phil Keoghan, host of TV’s The Amazing Race, who logged more than 400,000 miles last year
