When C.S. Richardson set out to write his first novel, he didn’t
have far to look for the building blocks that would shape his story.
After more than 20 years in the publishing business designing covers
for other authors’ books, he turned to what he knew best – the letters
A through Z, and the myriad combinations they produce that give life to
a writer’s creative vision.
The End of the Alphabet (Doubleday Canada) is the story of
Ambrose Zephyr, who is told "on or about his fiftieth birthday" that he
has 30 days or less to live. He sets out with his wife Zappora
Ashkenazi to visit the places in the world he has loved most or longed
to see. His "life list" begins with Amsterdam and is to end with
Zanzibar, with all the alphabetic points in-between.
