An interesting sighting from Mexico by our friend Luis Castañeda:
"I”ve been a fan of Moleskines since 2005, and surprisingly about two months ago I saw that Moleskines were used in a TV show called "Los Simuladores" (The Pretenders) in Mexico, aired by Televisa, the major
TV producer in Mexico.
Originally, Los Simuladores (The Pretenders) was a very popular TV series about a team of con artists solving common people’s problems in Argentina. The show ran for two seasons, from 2002 to 2003. Currently, Sony Pictures Television International is producing the remake for Mexican television network Televisa (with Mexican authors and "helping" mexicans), indeed, the images attached to the email are from the Mexican series from the first season, the second season is expected to be aired in january 2009…."
Luis travels quite frequently to the U.S. so he can stock up on Moleskine. Otherwise he reports:
"(Its) usually it’s hard to find Moleskines in México, Fondo de Cultura Economica is the only dealer, but once they run out of stock we have to wait until December to get stock. Fortunately I travel a lot to USA and every time I bring one or two of them. I’m telling you this because I work in a microfinance bank here in Mexico
and as part of our leadership programs I was planning to give a Lined Moleskine to every participant at the end of it, but it was impossible to find any, have to wait til December."
