Video: What's Your Moleskine In?
A short piece by Davide Bogie on the making of Gfeller cases for Moleskine notebooks.
"How about wrapping your molie in exquisite leather? In this film by david bogie, Steve Derricott of Gfeller Casemakers demonstrates the precision and pride with which he crafts his notebook covers. This is one of the finer accessories you can add to you Moleskine collection and a great way to protect your notebook. "
Interesting to some, riveting for notebook geeks like me:) Good job David!

That's a pretty amazing case, the amount of attention detail is wonderful!

I am always proclaiming that Moleskine is not too expensive, that the cost is comparable to leather blank books, it's a luxury item, sure, but don't we all choose what to spend our mad money on?
That said, the cost of having leather covers custom made for M. notebooks--it becomes an EXTREMELY LUXURIOUS item. They total cost exceeds handmade leather Italian journals with the world's nicest paper and Da Vinci artwork on the cover. Which proves my point--these are diaries and journals. And raises the question--Is this too expensive? At some point the actual value of the item won't match the expense.
I don't know why you would buy a M. and try and make it look like something else. And they take a beating. They're pretty nice as is. The guy in San Francisco where you can choose you're own cloth is doing something kind of fun. But these leather covers--it's a lot of money. I guess they're reusable. But then you're going to be lining your shelves with plain old black notebooks. Unless you consistently buy leather covers that cost twice as much as the notebook itself. I always viewed Moleskine as more utilitarian. ?

Pretty disappointing to see a pen clipped onto the front of the cover at the end of the video. Is there any room to stuff a pen between the moleskine spine and the cover?

If I were going to buy a cover, which seems a little silly, I would get one of the Rickshaw covers. Pen holders, extra pockets, you can get waterproof or any kind and color of fabric that you want. They're "green" too if that's a concern. They're regular bags are the best I've seen, esp. for cyclists and are priced accordingly, pretty expensive but maybe worth it.
