From Peter Laywine, in Toronto:

"Local artist John Smialek has hand written all of Shakespeare's plays contained in the First Folio. Using his PARKER 51 and 50 extra-large MOLESKINE notebooks, John transcribed the plays from February 2008 until June 2009. John's work is on display in the shop until the end of April."

I have all of these plays too, but mine came in an Oxford edition. I’m happy with the purchase though. It takes up less space on my shelf, was probably cheaper than 50 extra-large Molekine notebooks, and I saved myself a year and four months of time. But to each his own.

I don’t understand what the big deal is: Shakespeare himself did the same thing more than 400 years ago. Is this what art is nowadays? Merely copying the old masters?

    Can someone say ‘Rainman?’
